Previously on view: Broken. The Power of the Fragment

From September 25, 2026, to January 27, 2027, Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi presents Broken: The Power of the Fragment, a major exhibition celebrating the evocative power and fascination that fragments have exerted throughout the history of sculpture, from archaeology to contemporary art.

Organized in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art in Washington, the exhibition offers an exciting journey through global cultures and stories with over eighty works from various eras and geographies: from ancient Egypt and classical Greece to Cambodia and Mexico, exploring the circumstances that caused the fragmentation of sculptures—from wars and natural disasters to political reasons and deliberate artistic choices.
