Pursuant to Regional Law LRT 19/7/2017 No. 35, one companion animal per passenger is allowed on board public transport vehicles free of charge.
Passengers traveling with dogs must use both a leash and a muzzle, except in the case of guide dogs for visually impaired individuals.
As an alternative to leash and muzzle, animals may be transported in a pet carrier, which is mandatory for all other types of companion animals. The carrier must not exceed 140 cm in total dimensions (sum of length, width, and height) and must not occupy any seat.
If the total size of the carrier exceeds this limit, the standard fare equivalent to a single ticket will be applied.
Passengers bringing animals on board are responsible for ensuring that the animal does not soil the vehicle, disturb other passengers, or cause any damage.
If the animal soils the vehicle, causes damage to the vehicle or to persons or property, the passenger accompanying the animal will be held liable for compensation, in accordance with Article 2052 of the Italian Civil Code.
Animals may be denied access or removed from the vehicle at the sole discretion of company personnel in cases of excessive crowding, disruption to other passengers, or non-compliance with the above conditions.
