Starting January 29, 2025, Apple Pay’s Express Mode will be available in Tuscany for traveling on buses and trams across the region.
Purchase your contactless ticket with Express Mode even faster — no need to unlock your iPhone or Apple Watch, and it works even when your device is out of charge.
Enable Express Mode in Apple Wallet, hop on board, hold your device near the reader, and you’re ready to go!

Traveling on buses and trams is easier with Apple’s Express Mode.
With Express Mode, you can use some of your cards, keys, and passes in Apple Wallet without waking or unlocking your device, or authenticating with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode. You might even be able to use your card, pass, or key when your device needs to be charged in Apple Wallet without waking or unlocking your device, or authenticating with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode. How to Set Up Apple Pay in the Wallet App:
- Open the Wallet app and tap the "+" icon to add a card.
- Select "Debit or Credit Card" and follow the on-screen instructions to add your card.
- Set your preferred card for Express Mode:
- Open the Wallet app and select your desired card.
- Tap the three-dot icon and then "Card Details."
- Choose "Express Travel Settings" and confirm your selection.
Use Without Battery:
Even if your iPhone runs out of battery, you can continue traveling with Express Mode for up to five hours after the red low-battery icon appears.
This feature is available on iPhone XR and later models.

Security and Privacy:
Apple does not track your movements. Additionally, if you lose your device, you can remotely lock your card to prevent unauthorized use.

Express Mode with a powered-off device is available on iPhone XR and later.
Express Mode becomes unavailable when the device is turned off.
